What and how…

Four weeks of training then contenders are paired up and they spar 3 two minute rounds.

Protective gear includes 12 oz gloves, headgear, mouthguard and shin pads.

Background

Why

The aim of MRMA is to provide an opportunity to learn skills, then to test those skills under pressure. The contender series is an opportunity to build resilience.

Choices

If a student wants to become a kickboxer, the first jump is a formidable one – a full contact, amateur fight in Perth. The Contender Series is to help give a taste of a kickboxing competition.

The Coaches

Our current crop of fighters have trained hard for years and built their skills in this demanding sport. This series elevates them to the position of coach, teaches them responsibility and leadership skills.

Referee - Sean Allen

Judges - Brigitte Allen + 2 parents (all trained in judging protocol.).

Coaches - Kiva Cresswell, Kyesier Anderson and Levan Collins.

Cost - $75 per entrant covers the whole program.

Training times –

Team Kiva - Sundays at 1.30pm
Team Levan - Sundays at 3 pm.
Team Kyesier - Sundays at 4:30 pm.

Fight day - Sunday, September 3 at 3pm
